Scotch Plains Blotter: Theft, Harassment, Criminal Mischief and Fraud

The following information was provided by the Scotch Plains Police Department. Arrests do not indicate convictions.


Theft

September 10, 2012:  A patron at a Lamberts Mill Rd. club reported being a victim of a Theft.  He stated that he left his phone on a table and when he returned an unknown suspect(s) removed it.  The phone was valued at approximately $500.

September 11, 2012:  The manager of a Route 22 gas station reported being a victim of a Theft.  He stated that an unknown suspect(s) received approximately $60 worth of gas and then left without paying.

September 14, 2012:  A resident of West Broad St. reported being a victim of a Theft.  He stated that sometime overnight unknown suspect(s) removed a package that he had left on his front porch.

Harrasment & Criminal Mischief 

September 12, 2012:  A resident of Portland Ave. reported being a victim of Harassment.  She stated that an ex-friend has made several negative comments about her to her face and via her cell phone.

September 15, 2012:  A resident of Malanga Court. reported being a victim of Criminal Mischief.  He stated that sometime during the day unknown suspect(s) threw a rock at his house causing damage. 


Arrests

September 13, 2012:  A 23-year-old woman of Berkeley Heights N.J. was arrested for Possession of Marijuana.  Off. Alvarez-Diaz stopped Venter for a motor vehicle violation on Terrill Rd. and while speaking with her he smelled a strong odor of Marijuana. After a further investigation the Marijuana was discovered inside the vehicle.  She was placed under arrest and transported to H.Q. where she was processed and released.

September 14, 2012:  Lauren Calligy Age. 30 of Union Ave. Union Beach N.J. was arrested for Possession of Heroin.   Off. Lavery stopped Calligy for a motor vehicle violation on Route 22 and while speaking with her, he observed a bag of Heroin.  Calligy was placed under arrest and transported to H.Q. where she was processed and released.    
  
September 15, 2012:  
An 18-year-old man of West 4th St. Plainfield N.J. was arrested for Possession of Marijuana.  Off. Luciano stopped Lewis for a motor vehicle violation on Byrd Ave. and while speaking with her, he observed a bag of Marijuana. Lewis was placed under arrest and transported to H.Q. where he was processed and released.

September 15, 2012:  M.D. Warren Age. 55 of Sunset Ave. Westfield N.J. was arrested for a $239 outstanding warrant issued by the Hillside court.  Off. Alvarez-Diazo stopped Warren for a motor vehicle violation on Grand St. and discovered the warrant.  He was transported to H.Q. where he was processed and released.

September 15, 2012:  William Field Age 53 of Woodland Ave. Plainfield N.J. was arrested for a $500 outstanding warrant issued by the Fanwood court.  Off. B. Belford stopped Field for a motor vehicle violation on Cooper Rd. and discovered the warrant.  He was transported to H.Q. where he was processed and released. 

September 16, 2012:  Mohammed Iqbal Age. 54 of Swans Mill lane.  Scotch Plains N.J. was arrested for a $600 outstanding warrant issued by the Watchung court.  Off. Lavery stopped Iqbal for motor vehicle violation on Rahway Rd. and discovered the warrant.  He was transported to H.Q. where he was processed and released.


Fraud


September 10, 2012:  A resident of Hill Top Rd. reported being a victim of Fraud.  He stated that unknown suspect(s) made approximately $250 in purchases on his credit card without his authorization. 

September 14, 2012:  A resident of Tack Circle reported being a victim of Fraud.  He stated that unknown suspect(s) made several thousand dollars in purchases on his credit card without his authorization.
