Scotch Plains Blotter: Three Arrests Over 10 Days

Police activity from June 16 through June 26.

The Scotch Plains Police Department made three arrests between July 16 and July 26, including one for marijuana possession and another for driving while intoxicated. Here are the reports:

Monday, July 16:

A resident of the 300-block of Hunter Avenue reported being a victim of theft. An unknown suspect of suspects stole a bicycle from the porch of the victim's house.

Tuesday, July 17:

A resident of New Milford, N.J. reported that an unknown suspect or suspects intentionally scratched the side of his vehicle while it was parked on East Second Street.

Thursday, July 19:

Police arrested David Downes, of Plainfield, for possession of marijuana. Officers observed a group of men loitering near a playground in Farley Park. Downes was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.

 

Tuesday, July 20 and Wednesday, July 21:

A resident of East Second Street reported being a victim of harassment. She said that her ex-boyfriend calls her several times a day and yells at her.

The next day, the victim's father, a resident of White Oak Road, reported being a victim of harassment. He stated that several youths repeatedly rang his doorbell and threw trash on his lawn. He said he suspects that the perpetrators are the ex-boyfriend and his friends. Police are investigating both incidents.

Saturday, July 24:

Police arrested Mitchell Sattler, 51, of Union, for driving while intoxicated. Officers stopped Satler on Front Street for a motor vehicle violation and smelled the odor of alcohol. After failing several field sobriety tests, he was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.

The manager of a Route 22 liquor store reported being a victim of theft. He stated that the suspect entered his store, made a purchase and paid with a counterfeit $100 bill.

Sunday, July 25:

The manager of property on Martine Avenue reported being a victim of criminal mischief. He stated that sometime in the last week, an unknown suspect or suspects spray painted one of the house doors.

A resident of Seneca Drive reported being a victim of criminal mischief. He stated that sometime in the morning, an unknown suspect or suspects scratched the side of his vehicle, which was parked in front of his house.

Police arrested Andi Theodore, 18, of Plainfield, for an $89 outstanding warrant issued by the Scotch Plains court. Officers stopped Theodore on Park Avenue for a motor vehicle violation and discovered the warrant. She was transported to police headquarters, where she was processed and released.
