Scotch Plains Couple Arrested for Allegedly Growing $60K Worth of Marijuana

Ciro Perrone, 27, and Jennifer Rodriquez, 28, of Scotch Plains were arrested last week for maintaining a drug production facility at their residence in the 1400 block of Terrill Road, according to Scotch Plains Police Chief Brian Mahoney.

Members of the Scotch Plains Patrol Division, Scotch Plains Detective Bureau and the Union County Narcotics Strike Force executed a search warrant at the Terrill Road house in the afternoon of April 9. During the search, the police uncovered a large indoor marijuana grow operation in the basement. Police seized dozens of plants and several pounds of marijuana with a street sale value of approximately $60,000. Also seized was several thousand dollars in cash, distribution materials and paraphernalia.

Perrone and Rodriquez were taken into custody at their residence. They were transported to the Scotch Plains Police Department where they were each charged with maintaining a facility used to manufacture marijuana, a crime in the first degree; distribution of marijuana, a crime in the second degree; distribution of marijuana in a school zone, a crime in the third degree; and possession of marijuana, a crime in the fourth degree. 

Bail was set by a Superior Court Judge for Perrone at $450,000 and for Rodriquez at $125,000. They were both transported to the Union County Jail.

Their next court appearance is set at the Union County Superior Court in Elizabeth on April 17,2013. The investigation is ongoing according to Chief Mahoney.
