NJ.com: Scotch Plains Native Stephen Stamler Dies
Services will be held this morning for the Berkeley Heights police detective.
Scotch Plains native Stephen Stamler died Friday at Overlook Hospital after collapsing from what may have been cardiac arrest.
A Scotch Plains-Fanwood High graduate, Stamler attended Fairleigh Dickinson University and then went on to become a detective with the Berkeley Heights Police Department in 1994.
Stamler comes from a family with a history of law enforcement. His father, John H. Stamler, served three terms as Union County prosecutor, and his grandfather, Nelson Stamler, was an assemblyman, state senator, Superior Court judge and special deputy state attorney general.
