Scotch Plains Police Arrest Man for String of Burglaries on South Side

The suspect was caught in Fanwood on Sunday.

Scotch Plains police have arrested a man wanted in a string of vehicle burglaries that occurred on the south side of town last week.

LTD Hannah, 31, of Plainfield, was arrested for burglary and theft on Sunday, Aug. 9, after Fanwood police found him in the borough and transported him to the Scotch Plains Police Department.

Scotch Plains police issued a warrant for Hannah's arrest on Aug. 7 after one of the victims submitted surveillance video to police from a camera installed in their driveway. Lt. Brian Donnelly said that the victim had footage of Hannah throwing a brick through the window of their car and taking a pocketbook.

After that incident on Saturday, Aug. 1, there were six more vehicle burglaries on the night of Tuesday, Aug. 4, all on the south side of town in the Clydesdale Road and Ravenswood Lane area.

So far, police have tied Hannah to four of the burglaries. Donnelly said the investigation is ongoing. At this time, it does not appear that there was a second individual involved in the crimes.

“This is a very typical crime in the community, especially now,” Donnelly said. “We always urge people to lock their doors and not keep valuables in their cars, but the sad thing is they’re not going to stop. We’re still going to get these crimes.”

This is not the first time Hannah has been arrested in the area this summer. On Saturday, June 13, he was arrested by Fanwood Police for an outstanding Union County no-bail body warrant. He was turned over to the Union County Sheriff's Department at that point.

Hannah is currently being held at Union County Jail.
