Scotch Plains Police Blotter

Theft and drug arrests top the list of recent criminal activity in Scotch Plains.

Arrests

Sylvester Wallace, 71, of Plainfield, was arrested on November 27 for possession of cocaine. Officer Pearson stopped Wallace for a motor vehicle violation on Jerusalem Road, observed the cocaine, transported Wallace to Police Head Quarters where he was processed and released.

Justin Wolf, 23, of Westfield, was arrested on November 28 for possession of heroin. Officer Mahoney stopped Wolf for motor vehicle violation on South Avenue, observed the heroin, placed Wolf under arrest and transported him to Police Head Quarters where he was processed and released.

Ashemba Williams, 19, of Scotch Plains, was arrested on November 27 for disorderly conduct. Scotch Plains police responded to a large fight on Richmond Street. Officer Everitt responded and observed Williams yelling obscenities and stating that he wasn’t going to leave the area. He was placed under arrest, processed and released.

Tiffany Hamilton, 24 of Plainfield, was arrested on November 25 for a 113 dollars outstanding warrant issued by the Scotch Plains Court. Officer Denman stopped Hamilton for a motor vehicle violation on East Second Street when he discovered the warrant. The defendant was transported to Police Head Quarters, where she was processed and released.

Elijah Ivey, 24, of Plainfield, was arrested on November 28 for a 1,200 outstanding warrant issued by the Plainfield court. Officer Budzinski stopped Ivey for a motor vehicle violation on Route 22 and discovered the warrant.  Ivey was transported to Police Head Quarters where he was processed and released.

Criminal Mischief

On November 26, an act of criminal mischief on Hill Top Road was reported. The victim stated that sometime overnight, unknown suspects scratched the side of his vehicle while it was parked in front of his house.

Theft

On November 21, a theft on Canterbury Drive was reported. The victim stated that sometime overnight, suspect(s) removed an air conditioner valued at 1000 dollars from the side of his house.

On November 21, a theft on Myrtle Avenue was reported. The victim stated that sometime between November 20 and 21; an unknown person removed his wallet from his bag. The wallet contained several credit cards.

On November 22, a theft at Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School was reported. The victim stated that during the day, unknown suspect(s) entered her locker and removed her phone valued at approximately 200 dollars.

On November 24, a theft on Fox Court was reported. The victim stated that her pocketbook was stolen sometime during a party that she had hosted.

Robbery

On November 25, a convenience store on Westfield Avenue was robbed. The victim reported that at approximately 12 a.m., two suspects entered the store and produced a handgun. The suspects demanded money, received an undetermined amount of cash and fled on foot.

Attempted Burglary

On November 25, an attempted burglary on Frank Street was reported. The victim stated that sometime overnight, unknown suspect(s) removed the screen from the basement window. Entrance was not gained.
