Scotch Plains Police Blotter

Arrests for outstanding warrants top the list of recent criminal activity in Scotch Plains.

Arrests 

Donna LaFerrara, 33, of Elizabeth was arrested on January 2. Officer Pearson stopped LaFerrara for a motor vehicle violation on Route 22 and discovered a $1,500 outstanding warrant issued by the Westfield court. LaFerrara arrested, transported to police head quarters, processed and released.  

Darrien Lewter, 33, of Franklin, was arrested on January 5. Officer VonLangen stopped Lewter for motor vehicle violation on Route 22 and discovered a $1,500 outstanding warrant issued by the Fanwood court. Lewter was transported to police headquarters, processed and released.

Tyron Simms, 27, of Plainfield, was arrested on January 5 for a No Bail outstanding warrant issued by the Plainfield court.  Officer Belford stopped Simms for a motor vehicle violation on Front Street and discovered the warrant.  Simms was transported to police headquarters, processed and released.

Rokiya Fields, 28, of Plainfield, was arrested on January 7 for possession of marijuana. Officer Denman stopped Fields for a motor vehicle violation on Terrill Road and discovered the marijuana. Fields was transported to police headquarters, processed and released.

Burglary

On January 2,  a Mountain Avenue resident reported a burglary. The victim stated that sometime during the last several days unknown suspect(s) entered his vehicle and removed a camera and some tools valued at approximately $200.  The burglars entered his vehicle while it was parked in his driveway through an unlocked door.

On January 5, a Greensview Drive resident reported a burglary. The victim stated that sometime overnight unknown suspect(s) entered her vehicle which was left unlocked and parked in front of her driveway.  Once inside the suspect(s) removed her pocketbook.  

Theft

On January 3, the manager of a Route 22 store reported a theft.  The victim stated that sometime overnight unknown suspect(s) removed several hundred dollars in cash from one of the deposit boxes.

On January 4, a vehicle theft occurred on Lenepe Way. The victim stated that sometime overnight unknown suspect(s) took his vehicle which was left unlocked and parked in his driveway.  

Fraud

On January 4, a Forest Road resident an act of fraud.  The resident stated that unknown suspect(s) made several hundred dollars in purchases on her credit card without her authorization.

On January 6, a Stout Avenue resident reported an act of fraud. The victim stated that sometime overnight unknown suspect(s) made several hundred dollars in purchases on her debit card without her authorization.

Criminal Mischief

On January 6, a Tussell Lane business owner reported an act of criminal mischief.  The victim stated that sometime overnight unknown suspect(s) spray painted the side of his building.

Harassment

On January 6, an Allwood Road reported being a victim of harassment.  The victim stated that sometime overnight, unknown suspect(s) made several calls to her house and hung the phone up.
