Drug arrests top the list of recent criminal activity in Scotch Plains.
Harassment
On January 23, a Front Street resident reported being a victim of harassment. The victim stated that she has been having an ongoing problem with a classmate who yells obscenities at her.
On January 26, a Woodland Avenue resident reported being a victim of harassment. The victim stated that an ex-friend has been sending him several hundred text massages.

Burglary
On January 25, a Route 22 business was burglarized. The business owner stated that sometime overnight unknown suspect(s) entered his fenced in yard and moved some things around. Nothing was taken from the area.

Criminal Mischief
On January 26, a Haven Avenue resident reported being victim of criminal mischief. The victim stated that sometime overnight unknown suspect(s) scratched the side of her vehicle.
Arrests
Brandon Dunn, 27, of Newark, was arrested on January 25, for possession of marijuana. Officer Luciano stopped Dunn for a motor vehicle violation on Route 22 and observed the marijuana. Dunn was placed under arrest, transported to Police Headquarters, processed and released.
Gary Jones, 27, of Plainfield, was arrested on January 26, for obstruction of justice. Officer Alvarez-Diaz stopped Jones for a motor vehicle violation on East Second Street and while speaking with him, Jones gave several different names and identification. Jones was placed under arrest, transported to Police Head Quarters, processed and released.
Christopher Andrews, 29, of Plainfield, was arrested for on January 27, for possession of marijuana. Officer Everitt stopped Andrews for a motor vehicle violation on South Avenue and observed the marijuana. Andrews was placed under arrest, transported to Police Headquarters, processed and released.
Jose Constanza-Ortiz, 34 of Elizabeth, was arrested on January 28, for a $1,185 outstanding warrant issued by the Linden court. Officer Silva stopped Constanza-Ortiz for motor vehicle violation on Terrill Road and discovered the warrant. Constanza-Ortiz was transported to Police Headquarters, processed and released.
Mark Hand, 26, of Harrison, was arrested on January 28, for a $1,445 outstanding warrant issued by the Mantoloking court. Officer Aversa stopped Hand for a motor vehicle violation on Route 22. and discovered the warrant. He was transported to Police Headquarters, processed and released.
Angel Martinez, 21, of North Plainfield, was arrested on January 29, for a $500 outstanding warrant issued by the Metuchen court. Officer Denman stopped Martinez for a motor vehicle violation on Martine Avenue and discovered the warrant. Martinez was transported to Police Headquarters, processed and released.
Shanell Smith, 29, of Linden, was arrested on January 29, for a $189 outstanding warrant issued by the Westfield court. Officer Von Langen stopped Smith for motor vehicle violation on South Avenue and discovered the warrant. Smith was arrested, transported to Police Headquarters, processed and released.
