Scotch Plains Police Blotter

Illegal Possession of Prescription Drugs and Drunk Driving charges top the list of recent police activity in Scotch Plains.

Arrests

Jason Paszkowski, 23, of Scotch Plains was arrested on December 15 at Union Avenue for illegal possession of prescription drugs. Officer Rites stopped Paszkowski for a motor vehicle violation and observed the drugs in the vehicle. Paszkowski was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and released.

Jose Parras-Ponce, 35, of Rahway was arrested on December 18, at Martine Avenue for driving while intoxicated. Officer Lavery stopped Parras-Ponce for a motor vehicle violation and smelled a strong odor of alcohol. After he failed several sobriety tests, Parras-Ponce was arrested, transported to headquarters, processed and released.

Beau Lia, 21, of Fanwood was arrested on December 16 at East Second Street. Officer Denman stopped Lia for a motor vehicle violation and discovered an outstanding warrant of 418 dollars issued by the Scotch Plains court. Lia was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and released.

Gilsen Osores, 44, of Elizabeth was arrested on December 18 at Willow Avenue. Officer Redling stopped Osores for a motor vehicle violation and discovered a warrant of 244 dollars issued by the Westfield Court. Osores was transported to headquarters where he was processed and released.

Theft

On December 12, a resident reported a vehicle theft on Haven Avenue. The victim stated that sometime during the night, unknown suspect(s) stole her vehicle while it was parked in her driveway.

On December 14, a resident reported a theft on West Broad Street. The resident stated that unknown suspect(s) removed a package containing a gift valued at 140 dollars from his front porch.

On December 15 a theft occurred at Union Catholic High School. A student stated that sometime during the day, unknown suspect(s) removed his backpack valued at approximately 120 dollars from his locker which he had left unlocked.

Fraud

On December 13, a Pine Street resident reported an act of fraud. He stated that unknown suspect(s) used his credit card to make purchases amounting to several hundred dollars without his authorization.

Harassment

On December 14, a Terrill Road resident reported being a victim of harassment. The victim stated that a friend had repeatedly posted negative comments about her on Facebook.
