Thefts Top Scotch Plains Police Reports

Stolen bike, cellphone and items from cars dominate Scotch Plains police blotter.

The weekly Theft

On February 6, a Lyde Place resident reported an act of theft. The victim stated that sometime during the last few weeks, unknown suspect(s) removed several personal documents from her vehicle.

On February 6, a theft occurred at Scotch Plains Fanwood High School. The victim stated that he left his cellphone valued at $250 in his bag during class and when he returned the phone was gone.

On February 7, a Westfield Avenue resident reported an act of theft.  The victim stated that sometime over the last several weeks unknown suspect(s) removed her bicycle, valued at $500 which was left on the side of her house. 

On February 8, a Brookside Drive resident reported an act of theft.  The victim stated that sometime overnight unknown suspect(s) entered his vehicle which was parked in his driveway.  Once inside the suspect(s) removed several pieces of electronics valued at approximately $1,000.  Entrance was gained through an unlocked door.

Criminal Mischief

On February 6, an act of criminal mischief occurred on Jerusalem Road. The business owner stated that sometime overnight unknown suspect(s) spray-painted the wall behind his business.

Burglary

On February 6, an Oxford Road residence was burglarized. The resident stated that sometime during the day unknown suspect(s) entered his residence. Once inside the suspect(s) removed several thousand dollars in jewelry.  Entrance was gained by breaking a window on the back door and using the key that was left in the deadbolt.

Arrests

Candyce Craig, 26, of Plainfield, was arrested on February 11, for possession of prescription drugs.  Officer Pearson stopped Craig for a motor vehicle violation on Raritan Road and observed the drugs. Craig stated that she did not have a prescription for them. She was placed under arrest.  She was transported to Police Headquarters, processed and released.

Tara Pawlick, 27, of Winfield, was arrested on February 12, for possession of prescription drugs.  Officer Luciano stopped Pawlick for a motor vehicle violation on Terrill Road and observed the drugs. Pawlick then stated she did not have a prescription for them. She was placed under arrest and transported to Police Headquarters where she was processed and released.

Jerome Waites, 27, of Rahway, was arrested on February 8, for a $250 outstanding warrant issued by the Scotch Plains court.  Officer Combs stopped Waites for motor vehicle violation on Raritan Road and discovered the warrant.  Waites was transported to Police Headquarters, processed and released.

Anthony Acosta, 21, of Plainfield, was arrested on February 9, for a $200 outstanding warrant issued by the Plainfield court.  Officer Von Langen stopped Acosta for a motor vehicle violation on Route 22 and discovered the warrant.  Acosta was transported to Police Headquarters, processed and released.

Lagamont Robinson Age 21 of Plainfield, was arrested on February 10, for a $250 outstanding warrant issued by the Plainfield court. Officer Pearson stopped Robinson for a motor vehicle violation on Martine Avenue and discovered the warrant.  He was transported to Police Headquarters, processed and released.

Dennis Green, 50, of Plainfield, was arrested on February 10 for a $1,500 outstanding warrant issued by the Plainfield court.  Officer Luciano stopped Green for motor vehicle violation on Plainfield Avenue and discovered the warrant.  Green was transported to Police Headquarters where he was processed and released.

Jessica Martinez, 24, of Scotch Plains, was arrested on February 12, for a $181 outstanding warrant issued by the Scotch Plains court.  Officer Franco stopped Martinez for a motor vehicle violation on Martine Avenue and discovered the warrant.  Martinez was transported to Police Headquarters, processed and released.
