Scotch Plains Police Reports: Four Arrests Last Week

Police activity from June 21 to June 28.

Scotch Plains police reported four arrests and six crimes last week. The reported crimes include criminal mischief, burglary, theft and fraud. 

Here are the reports:

Monday, June 21:

  • A resident of Meadowview Road reported being a victim of criminal mischief. He stated that an unknown suspect or suspects broke the windshield of his vehicle sometime overnight. The vehicle was parked in the street.

Friday, June 25:

  • A resident of White Oak Road reported being a victim of fraud. He stated that he received a call from an individual asking him to buy a satellite dish and then asking him for a credit card number.
  • A resident of Jerusalem Road reported being a victim of a burglary. She stated that sometime overnight, an unknown suspect or suspects entered her vehicle, which was parked in her driveway. Once inside, the suspect or suspects removed an undetermined amount of money. Entrance was gained by opening an unlocked door.

Saturday, June 26:

  • A resident of Victor Street reported being a victim of a burglary. He stated that sometime overnight, an unknown suspect or suspects entered his vehicle, which was parked in front of his driveway. Once inside, the suspect or suspects removed an iPod, which was valued at about $150. Entrance was gained by smashing the passenger side window.
  • A resident of Treeview Circle reported being a victim of theft. She stated that sometime overnight, an unknown suspect or suspects removed a bicycle from his or her open garage. The value of the bike was about $120.
  • A resident of Clydesdale Road reported being a victim of criminal mischief. He stated that sometime in the last week, an unknown suspect or suspects knocked over his mailbox.
  • Police arrested Vashon White, 23, of Roselle, for a $229 outstanding warrant issued by the Fanwood court. Officer Suzanne Butler stopped White for a motor vehicle violation on Route 22 and discovered the warrant. White was transported to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.
  • Police arrested Davon Curtis, 25, of Paterson, for a $189 outstanding warrant issued by the Glen Ridge court. Officer Gerard Rites stopped Curtis for a motor vehicle violation on Terrill Road and discovered the warrant. Curtis was transported to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.

Sunday, June 27:

  • Police arrested Tyshawn Jones, 34, of Somerville, for a $156 outstanding warrant issued by the South Plainfield court. Officer Gerard Rites stopped Jones for a motor vehicle violation and discovered the warrant. Jones was transported to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.
  • Police arrested Rhamon Dozier, 33, of East Orange, for a $350 outstanding warrant issued by the Newark court. Officer Suzanne Butler stopped Dozier for a motor vehicle violation and discovered the warrant. Dozier was transported to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.
