Scotch Plains Police Reports: Jan. 12 to 17

Police activity from the past week.

An attempted home burglary in Scotch Plains last week was thwarted by an alarm, but another resident wasn't so lucky.

The first incident occurred on Thursday, Jan. 14, when a resident of Brandywine Drive told police that his alarm was activated. When police arrived they noticed that a window had been broken. Police believe that the suspect was scared away by the alarm and didn't gain entry to the home.

The next day on Westfield Avenue, a resident reported that he was the victim of burglary. The man told police that someone entered his home and removed jewelry.
