Scotch Plains Police Reports: March 16 to 19

Police activity from the past week.

Scotch Plains police arrested a Plainfield man last week for speeding away from them.

William Harris, 19, was arrested for eluding police. When an officer attempted to stop him for a motor vehicle violation, Harris decided to flee on Route 22 and continue driving at a high rate of speed. He was later arrested at his residence and transported to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.

Tuesday, March 16:

  • Kevin Anderson, 22, of Westfield, was arrested for an outstanding warrant after a motor vehicle violation. He was transported to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.

Thursday, March 18:

  • Kelly Zavala, 24, of North Plainfield, was arrested for driving while intoxicated. Zavala was pulled over for a motor vehicle violation when the officer smelled the odor of alcohol. She was transported to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.
  • Andrew Crawford, 22, of Plainfield, was arrested for an outstanding warrant after a motor vehicle violation. He was transported to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.
  • A resident of Muir Terrace reported being a victim of fraud. The resident told police that an unknown suspect made several thousand dollars of unauthorized purchased on their credit card.

Friday, March 19:

  • A resident of Haven Avenue reported being a victim of harassment. The man told police that he has received several calls from an unknown person telling him that he is a criminal and will go to jail.
  • A resident of Birth Street reported being a victim of fraud. The man told police that an unknown suspect withdrew several thousand dollars from his bank account without his authorization.
  • A resident of Farley Avenue reported being a victim of criminal mischief. The woman told police that an unknown suspect spray painted the side of her house.
