Scotch Plains Police Reports: March 23 to 28

Police activity from the past week.

Scotch Plains police are looking into two incidents of harassment from last week, including one that involved the scene of a Scotch Plains-Fanwood High sporting match.

The first was occurred on Wednesday, March 24, when a resident of Spruce Mill Road reported being a victim of harassment. The woman told police that she received a call from an ex-neighbor stating that she will damage her property if she ever parks in her parking spot again.

The other incident was at a Scotch Plains-Fanwood High lacrosse scrimmage on Friday, March 26, when a student of Mount St. Mary's Academy told police that she was a victim of harassment. The girl stated that while playing in a lacrosse game against SP-F, she was called numerous derogatory names by some of the fans.

Below is the rest of the recent police blotter.

Tuesday, March 23:

  • Shayna Polk, 21, of Plainfield, was arrested for an outstanding warrant after a motor vehicle violation stop. She was transported to police headquarters, where she was processed and released.
  • Jared Jones, 21, was arrested for possession of marijuana. An officer stopped Jones for a motor vehicle violation when he noticed the smell of marijuana. A search of the vehicle yielded the drug. Jones was transported to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.

Wednesday, March 24:

  • Leonard Arce, 39, of Rahway, was arrested for an outstanding warrant after a motor vehicle violation stop. He was transported to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.
  • A student at the Union County Vo-Tech school reported being a victim of theft. The student stated that an unknown suspect removed his cell phone, which was left in his backpack. The phone was valued at approximately $200.

Thursday, March 25:

  • A manager of a Route 22 gas station reported being a victim of theft. The manager told police that a customer received $50 in gas and handed the attendant a $20, bill then drove away.
  • A resident of Hunter Avenue reported being a victim of theft. The woman stated that she was waiting for a check from her college in the amount of $3,000. The college stated they mailed it, but she never received it. The check has since been cashed.
  • A resident of Raritan Road reported being a victim of burglary. The woman told police that an unknown suspect entered her unlocked car and removed her purse, which contained credit cards and cash.

Saturday, March 27:

  • A student at Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School reported being a victim of theft. The student stated that an unknown suspect removed her iPod Touch from her locker. The iPod was valued at approximately $100.

Sunday, March 28:

  • Manuel Perez-Cabrera, 36, of Basking Ridge, was arrested on an outstanding warrant after a motor vehicle violation stop. He was transported to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.
  • Eboni Crawford, 26, of Plainfield, was arrested on an outstanding warrant after a motor vehicle violation stop. She was transported to police headquarters, where she was processed and released.
