Scotch Plains Police Reports: March 3 to 7

Police activity in the township from the past week.

Scotch Plains police made multiple drug arrests last week.

The first two occurred after a motor vehicle stop on Friday, March 5. Timothy Whitmore, 23, of Millington, and Briana Carison, 20, of Neshanic, were arrested for illegal possession of prescription drugs. The two were stopped for a motor vehicle violation when the officer observed the drugs. Neither person had a proper prescription for them, so they were transported to police headquarters, where they were processed and released.

Other arrests were made on Sunday, March 7. Charles Moss and Kirtis Pettiway, both 23 and of Newark, were arrested for possession of marijuana. An officer stopped their vehicle for a violation and smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. They were then transported to police headquarters, where they were processed and released.

Below are the rest of the Scotch Plains police reports from the past week.

Wednesday, March 3:

  • Paul Knechtel, 44, of Scotch Plains, was arrested for driving while intoxicated after being stopped for a motor vehicle violation. He was transported to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.

Friday, March 5:

  • Marcus Atkinson, 20, of Elizabeth, was arrested for an outstanding warrant after a motor vehicle violation. He was transported to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.
  • Thomas Davis, 26, of Paterson, was arrested for an outstanding warrant after a motor vehicle violation. He was transported to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.

Saturday, March 6:

  • Clifford Gordon, 21, of Plainfield, was arrested for an outstanding warrant after a motor vehicle violation. He was transported to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.
  • A resident of Maddaket Village Drive reported being a victim of harassment. The woman stated that she received several phone calls from an ex-business associate, who yells at her then hangs up.

Sunday, March 7:

  • An employee of a Route 22 business reported being a victim of fraud. The man stated that a customer made a purchase with a $20 bill and when asked about the bill, the suspect fled the store.
  • A resident of Rahway Road reported being a victim of fraud. The woman stated that an unknown suspect withdrew money from her account without her authorization.
  • A resident of Evergreen Avenue reported being a victim of burglary. The woman told police that an unknown suspect entered her residence and once inside removed an undetermined amount of money.
  • Ricky Antone, 27, of Plainfield, was arrested for an outstanding warrant after a motor vehicle violation. He was transported to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.
