Scotch Plains Police Reports: May 20 to 23

Recent police activity in the township.

Scotch Plains police are investigating two burglary incidents from last week.

Both occurred on Thursday, May 20. The first involved a resident of Sycamore Avenue. The woman told police that an unknown suspect entered her vehicle, which was parked in her driveway, and removed an MP3 player and money. The total value of the stolen items was $300.

That same day on Park Avenue, another resident reported an attempted burglary to police. The woman stated that an unknown suspect tried to enter her residence through a window, but failed to gain entrance. Nothing was taken.

Below are the rest of the recent police reports for Scotch Plains.

Friday, May 21:

  • A resident of Tempe Court reported being a victim of fraud. The man told police that an unknown suspect cashed a check without his authorization. The check was valued at approximately $500.
  • Latoya McGhee, 30, of Plainfield, was arrested for possession of marijuana. Police stopped McGhee for a motor vehicle violation when they discovered she had an outstanding warrant. After further investigation, police also found the marijuana. She was transported to police headquarters, where she was processed and released.

Saturday, May 22:

  • Mohamed Noufal, 51, of Scotch Plains, was arrested for an outstanding warrant after a motor vehicle violation stop. He was transported to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.

Sunday, May 23:

  • Alterick Boyd, 51, of Grimesland, N.C., was arrested for an outstanding warrant after a motor vehicle violation stop. He was transported to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.
