Scotch Plains Rescue Squad Annual Fund Drive is Underway

The rescue squad relies on ongoing community support to fulfill their motto, "Neighbors Helping Neighbors. We Work For Pride Not Pay."

The Scotch Plains Rescue Squad has circulated their 2013 annual fund drive letter this month, emphasizing the importance of the service the organization provides for local residents.

Scotch Plains residents have relied on the volunteers of this squad for emergency medical service for more than 76 years. Volunteers respond to emergency calls on a 24-hour basis, despite holidays and inclement weather.  The Scotch Plains Rescue Squad depends on tax-deductible contributions to keep the organization functioning.

Many rescue squads have become unable to staff volunteers or raise enough money to continue free services to their communities and subsequently have begun to bill for emergency medical services. Because of the generosity of donors through the squad’s history, the squad has been able to offer their service without a charge to residents.
