Scotch Plains Wednesday Snow Update

Police say DPW crews are working now to clear school areas for tomorrow.

Scotch Plains Police have posted the following snow updates on the department's Facebook page.

Storm Update January 22, 0800 hrs:

Driving this morning is slow but manageable. County roads are plowed but still snow covered in some areas due to the very cold temps.

Secondary roads are mostly plowed and passable but snow covered.

All schools are closed in the area so traffic should be much lighter for this morning's commute. However, please don't drive unless you need to.

Also, DPW crews are working now to clear school areas for tomorrow. You can help them by shoveling your sidewalks and keeping them clear of snow and ice.

As a reminder, blowing or shoveling snow onto the roadway is against Township Ordinance and dangerous.

According to Union County, their offices will be closed. The Scotch Plains Municipal Building will be open for business but some offices may be delayed in opening due to the weather.

Whenever possible please park off-street so we may remove snow and ice in the most efficient manner.

If Scotch Plains experiences power outages for extended periods of time, you will be notified of locations of warming stations.

To report potentially dangerous issues our police can be reached at 908-322-7100 (0pt #7). For a true emergency, please call 911.

Stay Safe.
