SP Police: Fraud and Theft Among Reports

Police activity from Aug. 17 to 24.

Monday, August 17:

  • A resident of Homestead Terrace reported being a victim of criminal mischief. He stated that an unknown suspect damaged a tree in his yard.

Tuesday, August 18:

  • A resident of White Oak Road reported being a victim of theft. The man stated that he had workers in his house and that after they left, he noticed several thousand dollars worth of jewelry missing.
  • A resident of Channing Avenue reported being a victim of fraud. She stated that she was contacted by her bank because an unknown suspect removed approximately $290 from her account.

Wednesday, August 19: 

  • A resident of Lyde Place reported being a victim of theft. The man stated that an unknown suspect entered his vehicle, which was parked in front of his residence, and removed approximately $150 in cash.

Saturday, August 22:

  • Dawn Finley, 43, of West Orange, was arrested for driving while intoxicated. Finley was stopped after she struck a police car parked on the side of the road. The officer who then spoke to her smelled the odor of alcohol. Finley was transported to police headquarters, where she was processed and released.

Sunday, August 23:

  • Michael Sweeney, 39, of Scotch Plains, was arrested on an outstanding warrant. Sweeney was stopped on a motor vehicle violation when the officer discovered the warrant. He was transported to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.
  • Keith Bronikowski, 20, of Scotch Plains, was arrested for driving while intoxicated. Bronikowski was stopped for a motor vehicle violation when the officer discovered the smell of alcohol. He was transported to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.

Monday, August 24:

  • Christian Landazabal, 25, of Scotch Plains, was arrested for driving while intoxicated. Landazabal was stopped for a motor vehicle violation when the officer discovered the smell of alcohol. He was transported to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.
  • Sharief Bails, 32, of Linden, was arrested for possession of marijuana. Bails was stopped on a motor vehicle violation when the officer discovered the marijuana. He was transported to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.
