SP Police Investigate String of Car Burglaries

All of the vehicles were unlocked, police say.

Nine Scotch Plains residents were made victims of an overnight series of car burglaries, Detective Lt. Brian Donnelly said in a telephone interview Wednesday. Between about 9 p.m. Tuesday and 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, an unknown suspect or suspects entered 13 unlocked vehicles parked on Wood Road, Gallagher Avenue and Brookside Drive. The suspects took change and other small items.

"We have stepped-up patrols and have detectives out there processing the cars," Donnelly said.

He also reminded residents not to leave valuables in their vehicles, and to leave their vehicles locked at all times.
