SP Police Investigate Heroin Possession, Stolen Laptop
SPPD arrests a Westfield resident for possession of heroin, investigates theft, fraud, criminal mischief.
Fraud
On May 2, a Raritan Road resident reported being victim of fraud. The victim stated that unknown suspect(s) opened up a credit card without his authorization and accumulated a total of $3,500 in charges.
On May 5, a Montague Avenue resident reported being a victim of a fraud. The victim stated that unknown suspect(s) took his social security check and cashed it without his authorization.

Theft
On May 2, a Park Avenue resident reported a theft. The victim stated that sometime overnight unknown suspect(s) entered her vehicle while it was parked in the parking lot. Once inside the suspect(s) removed a laptop computer valued at approximately $600. Entrance was gained through an unlocked door.

On May 3, a theft occurred at a Front Street gas station. The owner of the gas station stated he did work on a vehicle and when the owner showed up he left with the vehicle after only paying for part of the work.
Criminal Mischief
On May 3, A Country Club Boulevard resident reported an act of criminal mischief. The victim stated that sometime overnight unknown suspect(s) dented the side of her vehicle while it was parked in the street.
Arrests
Frank Pepe, 30, of Westfield, was arrested on May 3 for possession of heroin. Officer Luciano stopped Pepe for a motor vehicle violation on Shady Lane and observed the heroin while speaking with him. Pepe was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was processed and released after posting bail.
Joseph Redfern, 22, of Plainfield, was arrested on May 2, for a $235 outstanding warrant issued by the Scotch Plains court. Officer Luciano stopped Redfern for a motor vehicle violation on Myrtle Avenue and discovered the warrant. Redfern was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and released.
Alicia Hawkins, 24, of Iselin, was arrested on May 4, for a $225 outstanding warrant issued by the Linden court. Officer Rites stopped Hawkins for a motor vehicle violation on Rahway Road and discovered the warrant. Hawkins was transported to police headquarters where she was processed and released.
Rashon Baker, 36, of Newark, was arrested on May 5 for a $1,000 outstanding warrant issued by the Scotch Plains court. Officer Lewis stopped Baker for a motor vehicle violation on Park Avenue and discovered the warrant. Baker was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and released.
