SP Police Investigate Six Local Thefts

A diamond ring is stolen from a SP residence, a patron's pocket was picked on Park Avenue, and two GPS units are reported missing. SP Police also crack down on drug arrests and harassment charges.

Theft

On April 4, a $25,000 diamond ring was stolen from a Swans Mill resident. The victim stated that he had several people over and when they left, he noticed the ring was missing.

On April 4, a Cecilia Place resident reported an act of theft.  The victim stated that sometime overnight unknown suspect(s) entered his vehicle and removed an undetermined amount of change. Entrance was gained through an unlocked door.

On April 4, a theft occurred outside a Hunter Avenue residence. The victim stated that sometime overnight unknown suspect(s) entered his vehicle while it was parked in her driveway and removed several DVDs valued at approximately $100. Entrance was gained through an unlocked door.

On April 5, a theft occurred at Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School. A student at the High School stated that unknown suspects removed his iPhone valued at $450 while his bag was left unattended in the classroom.

On April 6, a theft occurred outside a Weaver Street residence. The victim stated that sometime overnight unknown suspect(s) entered her vehicle which was parked in the driveway and removed a GPS valued at approximately $350. Entrance was gained through an unlocked door.

On April 6, a theft occurred at a Park Avenue restaurant. The patron stated sometime during the night unknown suspect(s) removed money and personal belongings from his jacket pocket.

Harassment

On April 4, a Front Street resident reported being a victim of harassment.  The victim stated that a neighbor yells obscenities at her and parks her vehicle in front of her house.

Arrests

Leonardo Quinteros, 19, of Dunellen, was arrested on April 6 for possession of marijuana. Officer Belford stopped Quinteros for a motor vehicle violation on Route 22 and observed that he was in possession of marijuana while speaking with him.  Quinteros was arrested and transported to Police Headquarters where he was processed and released.

Tyerione Tabron, 34, of Plainfield, was arrested on April 7 for possession of marijuana. Officer Pearson stopped Tabron for a motor vehicle violation on Route 22 and observed that he was in possession of marijuana while speaking with him. Further investigation led to the discovery of additional marijuana. Tabron was arrested and transported to H.Q. where he was processed and released.    

Stephanie Sherwood, 19, of South Plainfield, was arrested on April 8 for possession of marijuana. Officer Von Langen stopped Sherwood for a motor vehicle violation on Cooper Road and observed marijuana in her possession while speaking with her.  Sherwood was arrested, transported to Police Headquarters, processed and released.  

Jashire Reid, 19, of Somerset, was arrested on April 8 for obstruction of justice. Officer Pearson stopped Reid for a motor vehicle violation on Park Avenue. While speaking to Officer Pearson, Reid gave several names and date of births. Reid was arrested, transported to Police Headquarters, processed and released.

Luis Ferla, 40, of Elizabeth, was arrested on April 4 for a $1,158 outstanding warrant issued by the Scotch Plains court. Officer Denman stopped Ferla for a motor vehicle violation on East Second Street and discovered the warrant. Ferla was transported to Police Headquarters where he was processed and released.

Edward Roach, 19, of Plainfield, was arrested on April 6 for a $650 outstanding warrant issued by the Plainfield court. Officer Belford stopped Roach for a motor vehicle violation on Front Street and discovered the warrant. Roach was transported to Police Headquarters where he was processed and released.
