SP Police Investigate Three March 28 Car Thefts

Three cars outside Scotch Plains residences were broken into on March 28. SPPD also investigates fraud, harassment, and arrests marijuana dealer this week.

 

Theft

On March 28, a theft occurred outside a Hawthorne Street residence. The resident stated that sometime overnight unknown suspect(s) entered her vehicle through an unlocked door while it was parked in her driveway.  Once inside the suspect(s) removed a GPS valued at approximately $125.

On March 28, a theft occurred outside a Hawthorne Street residence. The resident stated that sometime overnight unknown suspect(s) entered her vehicle through an unlocked door while it was parked in front of her house.  Once inside the suspect(s) removed a pocketbook which contained cash and credit cards. 

On March 28, a theft occurred outside a Prospect Avenue residence. The resident stated that sometime overnight unknown suspect(s) entered her vehicle through an unlocked door. Once inside the suspect(s) removed a GPS valued at approximately $250.

Fraud

On March 26, a Raritan Road resident reported an act of fraud. The victim stated that unknown suspect(s) opened up a cell phone account valued at $250 without his authorization.

On March 26, a Jefferson Avenue resident reported an act of fraud. The victim stated that unknown suspect(s) opened up a credit card without his authorization. The victim received a bill for approximately $800.

On March 28, a Christine Circle resident reported an act of fraud. He stated that unknown suspect(s) opened up a credit card without his authorization. The victim received a bill for approximately $4,000.

Harassment

On March 29, A King Street resident reported being a victim of harassment. The victim stated that an individual that he has dealt with in the past has repeatedly made contact with him.

Arrests

Anthony Taylor, 20, of Scotch Plains, was arrested on March 31 for distribution of marijuana. Officer Luciano stopped Taylor for a motor vehicle violation on Cushing Road. Officer Luciano observed the marijuana while speaking and after investigating further, additional marijuana was discovered. Taylor was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was processed and released after posting bail.

Latisha Griffin-Graham, 18, of Watchung, was arrested on March 29 for a $600 outstanding warrant issued by the North Plainfield court. Officer Von Langen stopped Graham for a motor vehicle violation on Front Street and discovered the warrant. Griffin-Graham was transported to police where she was processed and released.

Clive Rose, 49, of Edison, was arrested on March 31, for a $500 outstanding warrant issued by the Plainfield court. Officer Belford stopped Rose for a motor vehicle violation on Sunnyfield Lane and discovered the warrant.  Rose was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and released.    

Sudi Manirakiza, 33, of Nutley, was arrested on April 1 for a $1,200 outstanding warrant issued by the Irvington court. Officer Pearson stopped Manirakiza for a motor vehicle violation on Route 22 East and discovered the warrant. Pearson was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and released.
