SP Police Reports: Nov. 3 to 7

Police activity from the past week.

Scotch Plains police arrested two individuals last week for trying to resist arrest and hinder apprehension.

On Thursday, Nov. 5, police arrested 26-year-old Scotch Plains man Dajon Semiday. Officers responded to a report that day of a fight in progress, and when they arrived, Semiday refused numerous commands to stop. He then ran into several yards before he was arrested by police. He was taken to police headquarters, where he was processed and released after posting bail.

Then on Saturday, Nov. 7, police arrested Joshua Belle, 27, of Plainfield, for hindering apprehension after he gave officers a fake name during a motor vehicle stop. He was processed and released.

Other than those incidents, there were reports last week of theft, shoplifting and harassment. See the full reports below.

Tuesday, Nov. 3:

  • Efrain Castro, 21, of Newark, was arrested for an outstanding warrant after a motor vehicle stop. He was processed and released.

Wednesday, Nov. 4:

  • Albert Mercado, 25, of Parlin, was arrested for an outstanding warrant after a motor vehicle stop. He was processed and released.

Thursday, Nov. 5:

  • A resident of Raritan Road reported being a victim of harassment. The woman stated that an unknown suspect makes repeated calls to her house and yells obscenities into the phone.
  • A student at the Union County Vo-Tech Schools reported being a victim of theft. The girl stated that someone entered her unlocked locker and removed her cell phone, valued at approximately $200.
  • A Resident of Rahway Road reported being a victim of burglary. The man stated that an unknown suspect entered his vehicle, which was parked in the driveway, and removed a GPS unit, valued at approximately $300.

Saturday, Nov. 7:

  • The manager of a Route 22 convenience store reported being a victim of shoplifting. The manager stated that the suspect came into the store and removed several soft drinks.
  • Ewerie Wilson, 35, of Irvington, was arrested for an outstanding warrant after a motor vehicle stop. Wilson was processed and released.
