SP Police Reports: Oct. 13 to 17

Theft, burglary and harassment among the reports.

Scotch Plains police arrested a Plainfield man last week for stealing money from a local store.

Emmanuel Hooper, 20, was arrested for theft on Wednesday, Oct. 14, after police responded to a report at a Westfield Avenue store. After investigating the incident, cops determined that Hooper had taken money from the business. He was transported to police headquarters, where he was processed, posted bail and was released.

A resident of Country Club Lane was also the victim of theft last Wednesday. The woman stated that an unknown person removed a decoration, valued at approximately $150, from the front of her apartment.

Other than those incidents, there were also reports of burglary and harassment last week. See below for a full view of police activity.

Tuesday, Oct. 13:

  • Alena Minatee, 23, of Plainfield, was arrested for an outstanding warrant after a motor vehicle stop. She was transported to police headquarters, where she was processed and released.
  • Shahab Sheikh, 26, of Plainfield, was arrested for an outstanding warrant after a motor vehicle stop. He was transported to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.

Saturday, Oct. 17:

  • A resident of Myrtle Lane reported being a victim of an attempted burglary. The man stated that an unknown suspect tried to enter his vehicle, which was parked in the front of his house.
  • A resident of Elizabeth Avenue reported being a victim of harassment. The woman stated that her neighbor has been yelling insults at her and her family for several weeks.
