SP Police Reports: Several DWI and Drug Arrests Made Over the Weekend

Police activity from Aug. 3 to 9.

Scotch Plains police arrested several people over the weekend for driving under the influence, and several others for drug possession. Here's a full look at the police activity from the past week.

Monday, August 3:

  • A resident of New York reported being a victim of fraud. The man stated that he used his debit card at a gas station on Route 22 and is now having money taken out of his account without his authorization.

Wednesday, August 5:

  • Police investigated a hit-and-run vehicle accident that occurred on Jerusalem Road. The victim stated that an unknown suspect struck his vehicle, which was legally parked, and caused damaged to the rear of it.

Thursday, August 6:

  • William Salazar-Acosta, 22, of Plainfield, was arrested on an outstanding warrant. Salazar-Acosta was stopped for a motor vehicle violation when the officer discovered the warrant. He was transported to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.
  • Brian Magazine, 33, of South Plainfield, was arrested for assault, obstruction and possession of a controlled substance. Magazine was stopped for a motor vehicle violation. When the officer went to talk to him, Magazine tried to fight and run. He was then placed under arrest, at which point the officer discovered drugs in his pockets. Magazine was taken to Union County Jail after he was unable to post bail.

Friday, August 7:

  • Christopher Andrews, 27, of Plainfield, and Christopher Lecky, 26, of Plainfield, were arrested for possession and distribution of a controlled substance. The two men were stopped for a motor vehicle violation when the officer discovered they had marijuana. They were transported to police headquarters, where they were processed and released.
  • Dennis Banic, 28, of Scotch Plains, was arrested for driving while intoxicated. Banic was stopped for a motor vehicle violation when the officer smelled the odor of alcohol. He was taken to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.

Saturday, August 8:

  • Jennifer Conner, 22, of North Plainfield, was arrested for driving while intoxicated. Conner was stopped for a motor vehicle violation when the officer discovered the smell of alcohol. She was transported to police headquarters, where she was processed and released.

Sunday, August 9:

  • Paula Woodhouse, 40, of Rahway, was arrested for driving while intoxicated. Woodhouse was stopped for a motor vehicle violation when the officer discovered the smell of alcohol. She was transported to police headquarters, where she was processed and released.
  • LTD Hannah, 31, of Plainfield, was arrested for burglary and theft. Hannah was tied to several vehicle burglaries in Scotch Plains. He was arrested on Aug. 9 by Fanwood police, and then transported to the Scotch Plains Police Department, where he was processed and taken to Union County Jail.
