SP Police Reports: Theft, Burglary and Hit-and-Run Accidents

SP Police reports from Sept. 8 to 13.

Scotch Plains police dealt with several vehicle-related incidents this past week.

On Tuesday, Sept. 8, police investigated a hit-and-run accident that occurred on Rahway Road. The victim stated that an unknown suspect struck his vehicle, which was legally parked, and caused damage to the rear of it.

Then on Friday, Sept. 11, police arrested Thomas Leahey, 66, of Plainfield, after he tried to leave the scene of a motor vehicle accident. Officers responded to the scene, and when they arrived they found Leahey trying to run away and lie about being involved. He was arrested for obstruction of justice, then transported to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.

Officers also arrested several individuals for driving while intoxicated. Here's a full look at the past week's police activity.

Tuesday, Sept. 8:

  • Horace McNeill, 38, of Plainfield, was arrested on an outstanding warrant. McNeill was stopped on a motor vehicle violation when the officer discovered the warrant. He was transported to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.
  • A resident of Valley Avenue reported being a victim of theft. The woman stated that an unknown suspect removed jewelry from her home. She told police she had several people over for a party, and afterward noticed the jewelry was missing. It was valued at approximately $175.

Friday, Sept. 11:

  • Maliyah Burrows, 22, of Irvington, was arrested on an outstanding warrant. Burrows was stopped for a motor vehicle violation when the officer discovered the warrant. Burrows was transported to police headquarters, and then processed and released.
  • Michael Brown, 28, of Morristown, was arrested for driving while intoxicated. Brown was stopped for a motor vehicle violation when the officer smelled the odor of alcohol. He was transported to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.

Saturday, Sept. 12:

  • Wagner Dubowski, 39, of Southhampton, Penn., was arrested for driving while intoxicated. Dubowski was stopped for a motor vehicle violation when the officer discovered the smell of alcohol. He was transported to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.

Sunday, Sept. 13:

  • A resident of Stout Avenue reported being a victim of harrassment. The woman stated that an unknown female repeatedly calls her, yells and then hangs up.
  • A resident of Greenbriar Lane reported being a victim of burglary. The owner stated that an uknown suspect entered his vehicle and removed change from inside
