Traffic Alert: Rahway Road Closed for Paving Thursday, Friday

Police advise to expect delays during the morning rush hour or find an alternate route to avoid the area.

The Scotch Plains Police Department is alerting residents that Rahway Road will be closed during several hours of paving work this week.

The department is advising residents to the following schedule for closings (weather permitting):

Thursday – Paving starting at 7 a.m., the section between Lenape Way and Raritan Road only. This work should be completed by around lunchtime. The contractor was asked not to work in the afternoon due to “trick or treating”.

Friday – Paving starting at 8 a.m. (after the school buses get through), the section between Raritan Road and the Edison township line. This will probably take about eight hours to complete.

Police advise to expect delays during the morning rush hour or find an alternate route to avoid the area.

The Scotch Plains Police Department will be on site to enforce the closure and to assist pedestrians and students through the construction area.
