SP Police Rescue Runaway Horse in Scotch Plains

The horse galloped off from Watchung Stables but was corralled on Route 22 by Scotch Plains officers. Plus, a SP residence was burglarized for pocket change and other news reported by the SPPD.

The following information was provided by the Scotch Plains Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

Horse Escapes

Scotch Plains Police reported that on Sunday, April 30, a horse escaped from Watchung Stables. After a brief chase, he was cornered by Scotch Plains Police cars on Route 22 in Scotch Plains near the McDonalds. Authorities were able to bring the horse under control without incident, Scotch Plains Police said.

Burglary

On April 27, a Farley Avenue residence was burglarized. The victim stated that sometime during the day unknown suspect(s) entered her house. Once inside, the suspect(s) removed a jar containing coins. Entrance was gained through a second story window.

Fraud

On April 23, a Park Avenue store owner reported being a victim of fraud. The victim stated that a customer paid him for services with a check on a closed account.

On April 24, the manager of a credit union reported being a victim of fraud. The victim stated that unknown suspect(s) cashed a check on a closed account. The check was made out for several hundred dollars.

Theft

On April 24, a theft occurred outside a Johnson Street residence. The victim stated that sometime overnight unknown suspect(s) entered her vehicle which was parked in her driveway. Once inside the suspect(s) removed several CD’s valued at approximately $125. Entrance was gained through an unlocked door.

On April 26, a theft occurred at a Fawn Ridge Drive residence. The victim stated he had several people over his house and when they left he noticed that his IPhone was missing. The phone is valued at approximately $300.

On April 29, a theft occurred at the Shackamaxon Country Club. The victim stated that while attending a function, unknown suspect(s) stole her laptop computer that was left by a table. The laptop was valued at approximately $1,000.

Criminal Mischief

On April 25, a Stout Avenue resident reported an act of criminal mischief.  The victim stated that sometime during the day a fellow classmate damaged his vehicle while it was parked.

On April 25, the owner of a Route 22 store reported an act of Criminal Mischief. The victim stated that sometime overnight unknown suspect(s) damaged the sign by his front door.  The sign is valued at approximately $300.

Harassment

On April 25, a Byrd Avenue resident reported being a victim of harassment. The victim stated that an individual that she known made several disparaging remarks about her.

Arrests

Carlos Kalil-Recinos, 42, of Edgewater, was arrested on April 29, for a $295 outstanding warrant issued by the Ridgefield court. Officer Luciano stopped Kalil-Recinos for a motor vehicle violation on Route 22 and discovered the warrant. The suspect was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and released.

Susan Linarducci, 58, of South Orange, was arrested on April 29, for a $1,639 outstanding warrant issued by the South Plainfield court. Officer Redling stopped Linarducci for a motor vehicle violation on Woodland Ave. and discovered the warrant. Lindarducci was transported to police headquarters where she was processed and released.

Saleem Phelps, 28, of Irvington, was arrested on April 29, for a $773 outstanding warrant issued by the North Bergen court. Officer Von Langen stopped Phelps for a motor vehicle violation on Lamberts Mill Road and discovered the warrant. Phelps was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and released.
