UPDATE: Police Identify Man Killed in Scotch Plains Car Accident

The man who was killed in a Scotch Plains car accident Thursday has been identified as Jesus Nunez-Picazo, 38, of Queens New York.

On Thursday, Patch reported that an unidentified male pedestrian was killed when he was struck by a motorist driving east on Route 22 in Scotch Plains. Today, Scotch Plains Police Captain Brian Donnelly released the full report regarding the fatality.

According to Scotch Plains Police, at 8:54 p.m., Jesus Nunez-Picazo, 38, of Queens New York was crossing Route 22 at Harding Road when he was struck by a 25-year-old motorist driving a Honda in the eastbound lane of Route 22.

Scotch Plains Police stated that the victim "appeared to be distracted" while crossing the high way.

"The driver immediately pulled over [after strking the victim]," Donnelly stated. "Nunez-Picazo was pronounced dead at the scene. Nothing in the investigation indicates any wrong doing or criminal activity.  It appears to be a tragic accident. No summons have been issued."
