Additional Parking Proposed for M&E Stage House

Multiple issues discussed at Monday evening's Planning Board Meeting.

At Monday evening's Planning Board meeting, M & E Stage House presented a proposal to add additional parking in conjoinment with their current parking lot.

While the Stage House's engineer presented their proposal, multiple concerns about the current lighting situation of the existing lot was brought to attention.

Currently the M & E Stage House lot has 64 parking spaces. The new plan will add 25 more spaces and four handicapped spaces. It will also remove the current entrance and create a wider single aisle for both entrance and exit on Front Street.

In addition to the creation of spaces, two 15 foot light posts will be added, both which have downward facing lights.

The Planning Board approved the plan for the addition to the lot, but asked the M & E Stage House members to come back to the next meeting with a plan to better light the current parking area.

Another proposal was made by Bigg Playdate on Willow Ave. and 2nd Street, to add two tables and eight chairs outside of the establishment.

The board suggested this be approved by the council since they are a new business and hope that outdoor seating would drive traffic.

Lastly, the Planning Board finally completed a book of Rules and Procedures that would be given to current and future employees.

For many years the Board was lacking a book and resorted to borrowing rules from the Zoning Board.

Board member, Paulette Coronato, noted this would be a great resource and thanked the committee for being able to put this together.

Next meeting, Oct. 10: Two temporary cell towers will be proposed for Scotch Plains.
