Brief: Potosnak to Visit Scotch Plains Wednesday

Ed Potosnak, the Democratic candidate for New Jersey's Seventh Congressional District, will hold a news conference outside a foreclosed home on Park Place.

Ed Potosnak, the Democratic candidate for New Jersey's Seventh Congressional District, will host a news conference outside a foreclosed home in Scotch Plains on Wednesday afternoon, according to a press release distributed Tuesday by Potosnak's office. The event starts at 1 p.m. at 2409 Park Place, located near Scotch Hill Country Club.

"2409 Park Place is one of many homes in our communities that are now in foreclosure due to the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression," the press release stated. Potosnak will discuss "the impact of financial reform on our communities."

Potosnak is challenging Republican incumbent Leonard Lance, whom he alleges "voted against financial reform" as a member of the House Financial Service's Committee.

Last week, Lance hosted a news conference at John's Meat Market in Scotch Plains, where he reiterated his opposition to the second round of the TARP bailout (he was not in office for the first), which he argued did not effectively stimulate the economy, and his support for extending the Bush-era tax cuts and a constitutional amendment that would limit the federal deficit.
