Christmas Tree Pickup Schedule

What you need to know about Christmas tree pickup in Scotch Plains and Fanwood this year.

New Year’s Day is here and while you may love to leave that beautiful Christmas tree up as long as possible and prolong Christmas cheer until spring is just around the corner, Scotch Plains Director of Public Works, Kevin Ward reminds residents that Christmas tree pickup begins in Scotch Plains on January 9.

Ward stated that pickup in Scotch Plains will begin at Hetfield Avenue - which is center of North and South Avenue - and will make only one path in each direction to complete the pickup. Although the exact volume of pickup cannot be predicted, Ward anticipates that it will take about two weeks to complete the pickup.

Christmas tree pickup in Fanwood will begin January 3 and continue through January 31. For those who tend to wait until the last minute, trees MUST be placed on the curb outside your house by January 30 at 7 a.m.  Also, wreathes and garlands are not acceptable for Fanwood pickup.
