Corzine Names Scotch Plains, Fanwood Residents to Government Posts

Both women previously served in the positions.

Gov. Jon Corzine submitted his nominations for major and minor government posts on Monday after reaching an agreement with Gov.-elect Chris Christie about making  appointments during the transition period. On that list were two local residents up for reappointment.

Fanwood resident Josephine E. Hernandez was nominated for reappointment to the State Board of Education. Hernandez was first appointed to the post in 2004 and currently serves as board president.

In addition, Scotch Plains resident Jane Schreadley Lorber was reappointed to the state's Catastrophic Illness in Children Relief Fund Commission, which aids New Jersey families whose children have an illness or condition otherwise uncovered by insurance, state or federal programs, or other source, such as fundraising. According to the state Department of Health and Human Service's Web site, Lorber currently serves as chairperson for the commission.
