Fanwood Democratic Committee Nominates Mitchell and Kranz for Council

The Committee nominates Tom Kranz and veteran councilwoman Kathy Mitchell for the November elections.

 

The following information was provided by the Fanwood Democratic Committee.

The Fanwood Democratic Committee has nominated veteran Borough Councilwoman Kathy Mitchell for an unprecedented sixth term and resident Tom Kranz to run for the Council seat currently held by Anthony Parenti, who is not seeking re-election.

Ms. Mitchell, a 50-year resident of Fanwood and retired nurse, is currently serving her 15th year as a member of the Borough Council.  She is currently Fanwood Police Commissioner and head of Public Safety. She also serves on the board of the Fanwood Memorial Library and is Council liaison to the Shade Tree Commission, Senior Citizens Club and the Cultural Arts Commission. She has a sister who also lives in Fanwood.

Mr. Kranz moved to Fanwood in 1994 from his native Philadelphia. He is Director of Communications at Chelsea Senior Living at their corporate headquarters in Fanwood.  He has also been a volunteer EMT with the Fanwood Rescue Squad for fourteen years. His wife, Marianne, is Director of Meals on Wheels and Volunteers at SAGE Eldercare in Summit and is a volunteer at the Contact/We Care crisis hotline. They have two sons, one of whom is a U.S. Capitol Police officer, the other a junior at The College of New Jersey.

Nominating petitions for Mitchell and Kranz are being submitted this week in time for the Democratic primary in June.
