Fanwood Update: '72 Homes Without Power'

The following message was distributed by Mayor Colleen Mahr via email at 8:11 p.m. Thursday.

As of 4:00 PM Thursday, there remained 72 Fanwood homes without power. PSE&G crews continue working on power restoration.

Please call the Fanwood Hotline at 908-322-7250 for updates on power outages.You may leave a message about public works issues on this hotline.

On Wednesday, September 7th, Fanwood will conduct a one-day bulk pick up of flood damaged items. No permits are required. You must place your items curbside on Tuesday, September 6th, in order to assure pick up on September 7th. Please limit this pick-up to flood damaged items. The regularly scheduled bulk pick-up beginning September 19th will still occur.

It is likely that Fanwood residents will experience a power outage of approximately one hour over the weekend. PSE&G will be making permanent repairs to the grid and must power down to do so.

Although Union County has not been included in the initial NJ disaster declaration,residents may begin the registration process with FEMA for disaster assistance in anticipation that Union County will be added. Call 1-800-621-3362 to speak with a FEMA representative or visit www.disasterassistance.gov.
