FEMA Reps Available to Answer Irene Questions at MusicFest

Residents can obtain information regarding aid to assist post-storm cleanup and repairs.

Representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will be on hand at the Union County Fair and MusicFest at Oak Ridge park on Sunday to answer residents' questions about obtaining aid for damage caused by Hurricane Irene, according to a press release distributed by the county's Office of Public Information. The representatives will be at the Union County booth from 2 to 8 p.m.

As part of the recovery effort after Hurricane Irene, festival-goers are encouraged to bring donations of personal care items such as toothpaste, shaving cream and diapers for the county's Department of Human Service’s “Care for Neighbors” drive, the press release states. All donations should be new and sealed in their original packages. The items will help replenish Union County’s emergency shelters, which were depleted in the aftermath of the storm.

Collection stations will be located at the main entrance to Oak Ridge Park, where the shuttle buses stop, and at the two entrances from the parking areas. In a partnership with Union County, the United Way of Greater Union County will also be collecting monetary donations and grocery store cards at the Union County Fair to replenish depleted supplies at the county’s food kitchens.
