Police Merger Plan to be Revealed Next Week

There will be a presentation of the plan to date, followed by a question-and-answer period next Monday night.

Scotch Plains and Fanwood councils announced Thursday they will hold a joint meeting for a public discussion of the proposed merger of the police departments.

The meeting will take place Monday, Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. in the Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School auditorium.

There will be a presentation of the plan to date, followed by a question and answer period. This meeting comes after several executive session joint meetings between the towns.

"After several years of discussions, research and hard work, both governing bodies are now ready to share their findings with you," wrote Fanwood Mayor Colleen Mahr in a message to residents. "I hope you'll plan on attending this important event."
