Meat and Greet: Lance to Speak at John's Market Wednesday; Potosnak Visits Italian Feast

U.S. Rep. Leonard Lance (R-Hunterdon County) will hold a news conference Wednesday. His challenger, Ed Potosnak, visited St. Bart's Italian Feast Monday.

Congressman Leonard Lance (R-Hunterdon County) will hold a news conference at John's Meat Market in Scotch Plains on Wednesday to discuss President Barack Obama's economic stimulus proposals. Lance's visit comes two days after challenger Ed Potosnak made an appearance at St. Bartholomew's annual "Italian Feast" in Scotch Plains.

Angie Lundberg, Lance's communications director, characterized Lance's press conference Wednesday as an "official event," not a campaign appearance. She said that Lance, who is visiting in his capacity as a Congressman, will deliver prepared remarks at about 1 p.m., then take questions from reporters.

In press releases, press conferences and interviews, Lance has called for the extension of the so-called Bush Tax Cuts, which expire at the end of this year. He has also advocated for cutting the federal deficit, which he argued can be accomplished by reducing federal spending, repealing the healthcare reform law passed last year, which he alleged raises costs for small businesses, and he has voiced opposition to the creation of a consumer protection agency for the financial services sector.
