PolitickerNJ: Stender Dropped as Deputy Speaker

The Assemblywoman had held the position since 2006.

PolitickerNJ is reporting that Assemblywoman Linda Stender (D-Fanwood) has been dropped from her post as Deputy Speaker.

Patrick Diegnan (D-South Plainfield) and Grace Spencer (D-Newark) are among the new Deputy Speakers named by Assembly Speaker Sheila Oliver (D-East Orange).

Stender, who has been a member of the Assembly since 2002, served as Deputy Speaker from 2006 to 2009.

Oliver did name Stender as chair of the State Government Committee in January. She was also selected to serve as vice-chair of the Transportation, Public Works & Independent Authorities Committee and on the Appropriations Committee.

Jerry Green (D-Plainfield) remains as Assembly Speaker Pro Tempore.
