I was quite excited that Representative Holt was having a town hall meeting today. I was simply embarrassed for him and for us after hearing him ramble on about how we need to spend more and not be afraid to buy things to feed the economy. Apparently people who work are not giving enough tax dollars to those who don't work, but it is also the hard workers fault that the economy is sluggish because they are scared to spend. Holt even went so far as to say that increasing the debt is a good thing and that the residents at the meeting who had mortgages were in the same type if debt as the government. I am thinking the massively well educated congressman forgot that a home has equity and if you sell it, you can pay off your mortgage and actually have money left over. What will or country sell to pay off our debt? I wonder if he even knows what a balance sheet looks like. I was even more discouraged when he said that he supports obamacare because it gives everyone more affordable healthcare and he feels that America should have a Medicare for all single payer system. When residents with genuine questions about his definition of universal healthcare asked him, Rep. Holt danced around a bit and then Mayor Mahr interrupted the residents before they could ever get an answer. Congressman Holt has a nice resume. He commented how the postal service has been losing billions annually while ups and fedex are skimming away the profits from the usps. This is because the government is inefficient. Medicare is a money pit, medicaid is a joke and no one can find providers that take it and tricare is an embarrassment. The government has proven it can not run efficiently...what qualifies them run the single payer medicare for all system that Holt supports? Worst of all, Holt grandstands at the end for 5 minutes about how Christie disappointed everyones trust with"bridgegate." The president lies about bengazi, throws the constitution away with an irs scandal, gets caught spying on Europe AND Americans and lies about keeping the doctor that we like...but he isn't an embarrassment. Christie caused 3 days of traffic and is an embarrassment. Beginning to end, a massively disappointing afternoon on both the federal and local level.
