Scotch Plains: About 840 Homes Without Power

Coles Avenue and Williams Street remain closed, township manager says.

Close to 840 residences in Scotch Plains still lacked electricity Wednesday, Township Manager Christopher Marion said in a telephone interview.

"I have had no update yet from PSE&G today, so hopefully that number has come down, as well," he stated.

Coles Avenue and Williams Street remain closed. The southern portion of Westfield Road, on the border with Fanwood, has been opened.

"Cleanup efforts continue, so we're still busy, but there's still much to do," Marion said.

He reminded residents that the township will hold a special storm branch and limb collection starting Tuesday, Sept. 6.
