Scotch Plains to Hire TV Station Operator

Several residents have spoken out about the sound quality of recent broadcasts, where a loud buzz drowns out speaking.

Scotch Plains will begin the process of hiring a TV station manager for the town's local access channel after currently operating with the help of volunteers.

The decision to hire a manager was made several months ago, but the council has recently advertised a request for proposals for an operator/station manager with responses due yesterday. The council will now interview and decide on an operator together.

Several residents have spoken out during previous meetings about the sound quality of recent broadcasts, where a loud buzz drowns out speaking.

"People couldn't hear a word of what was being said," said Mayor Kevin Glover at the meeting where the council voted to request proposals for a manager. "Whether they agreed with you or with me was irrelevant. They couldn't hear it."

Scotch Plains TV appears on both Comcast cable channel 34 and Verizon FiOS channel 22.
