SP New Manager Will Be at Budget Meeting

Christopher Marion said Monday he felt it was important to attend the meeting and take notes.

Scotch Plains new town manager will be at the budget hearing tonight.

Christopher Marion said on Monday that he told Mayor Nancy Malool that he wanted to attend, and that she said it was fine.

The mayor had previously said she thought it might be best for him not to come so he that could get a fresh start.

Marion also attended the June 19 township meeting when the council adopted the new sewer utility.

“I took 17 pages of notes then, so I want to be there tonight,” he said.

Monday was day one for the new town manager. He spent most of his first day meeting with department heads and settling into his new office, which is already decorated with his favorite sports memorabilia.

Philadelphia Eagles décor lines the top of his desk. Marion is also awaiting the arrival of a game day football from the Philadelphia Eagles-New York Giants’ November game, which he received from the township of West Windsor last week as he finished his job there as business administrator.

“They gave me that as a parting gift,” he said.

Marion said the rest of this week will be filled with meeting municipal employees and a couple of meetings with residents who contacted him.
