This Week Ahead: Week of Monday, January 23

On Monday, Patch highlights local events happening around town this week.

On Wednesday, January 25, at 7 p.m., will be hosting the 11th annual Scotch Plains-Fanwood Rotary Club . The cost to attend is $75 per person and is open to the public. This year’s tasting will feature wines from a variety of regions around the world.  Wine specialist and enthusiast Tom Jackson will provide a regional history of each wine featured.  A three course dinner accompanied by its own selected vintage wine, appetizers and desserts will be provided.

On Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at 7:30 p.m, the Triwomen Group will be hosting  a kick off informational session at the for women ages 14 to 70+ who are interested in running in a sprint triathlon in 2012. The group has helped over 600 women prepare for triathlons and is currently gearing up for the Danskin Women’s Triathlon Sprint in September. Organizing Guru Amara Willey will provide an organizing workshop for parents on Tuesday, January 24, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m, at the . Learn essential skills while your 4 or 5-year-old attends Winter Story time, which will also include  a craft or activity. Can’t make it during the day? Willey will also be holding a workshop session on Tuesday, from 7 to 8 p.m.

On Thursday, January 26, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., the Fanwood Memorial Library will be hosting a Math Storytime featuring age appropriate activities with a math twist! This storytime is not a "drop-in" program. The math concepts will build on each other. Please call the Fanwood Memorial Library or stop in to Sign-up. (908) 322-4377. Can’t make it in the morning? There is another session from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.

invites parents and students to participate in Bingo Night which will take place on Friday, January 27, at 6 p.m. The PTA invites students and parents to dance the night away at the PTA School One Sock Hop, which begins at 7 p.m. on Friday.

The Friends of the is currently seeking donations for the upcoming book sale. Please drop of donations at the library between now and Sunday, March 4, 2012. Donations must be clean, salable hard cover or paperback books with no torn or marked pages. music or books on CDs as well as DVDs will also be accepted. The Friends request that donations not include older or time-sensitive materials such as videotapes, records, magazines and textbooks.  

The book sale begins March 14, 2012 with the Friends of the Scotch Plains Public Library  member's only preview and continues March 15 - 17, 2012.  A children's book sale will additionally be held March 10 - 11, 2012.  Volunteers will be able to help carry in donations.
