Container Garden Workshop, September 24, 2011 - EARTH Center, Register Now

The EARTH Center is hosting a Container Garden Workshop.  Does condo or apartment living limit your gardening efforts??  Are you looking for a new way to busy your green thumb??

If so, then attend Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Middlesex County’s “Introduction to Container Gardening” workshop, presented at the EARTH Center on Saturday, September 24, 2011 from 12:30pm – 2:30pm in Davidson’s Mill Pond Park, 42 Riva Avenue, South Brunswick.

A seminar will be presented by Rutgers Master Gardener and longtime container gardening enthusiast, Dr. Fred Primich.  The long history of the growing technique, as well as best practices for success, will be presented.  Plants grown in containers or pots, are less vulnerable to soil conditions, including  insects and  disease.  Plants in containers are potentially mobile as well.  By attending this workshop in the fall, gardeners will have enough information to properly plan their container garden for 2012.

Please call the Middlesex County’s Extension office at 732-398-5262 to register for the workshop.  Fee for the course is $20 and registration is required by Sept. 21. Workshop attendees will need no prior experience and materials will be provided, though attendees may bring their own.  There will also be a free Composting Workshop at the EARTH Center prior to this seminar from 10AM – Noon.  Interested parties should call ahead to register for that program.

At the EARTH Center, residents can participate in compost or lawn renovation classes, purchase soil test kits, pesticide application test manuals or submit pest & disease samples.  Rutgers Cooperative Extension educational programs are offered to all without regard to race, religion, color, age, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, or disability.
