IHM Hosts Internet Safety Presentation for Teens and Parents

Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 1571 Martine Avenue in Scotch Plains, will be sponsoring a special presentation on Internet Safety in the parish’s Nazareth Center on Thursday December 1 at  7pm.

This free hour-long presentation is essential to both teens and their parents who must navigate the threats posed in Cyberspace to their reputation, material well-being and personal safety.

The featured speaker will be Sgt. Mike Hoose of the High Tech / Computer Services Unit of the Union County Prosecutor’s Office.

Topics to be addressed will include cyber-bullying, Internet fraud (“phishing”), identity theft and stalking; threats posed by “social networks” such as Facebook, as well as real-life examples of the dangers young adults face every day in a world of smartphones with cameras.
