Lincoln’s New Jersey Connection at Scotch Plains Public Library

On Thursday evening, May 13, at 7 pm, Dr. Claribel Young will speak on "Lincoln's New Jersey Connection: William Augustus Newell and Our Sixteenth President."  Dr. Claribel Young, Professor of History, School of Arts and Humanities, Georgian Court University will shed light on a little-known and enduring connection between these two men.  Dr. Young is the recipient of the "Excellence in Teaching New Jersey Studies" on College Level, awarded by the New Jersey Studies Academic Alliance, 2004.

This program is free and open to all interested participants. Scotch Plains Library is located at 1927 Bartle Avenue, one block from Park Avenue in the center of town.

 "Abraham Lincoln: A Man of His Time, a Man for All Times" is a national traveling exhibition organized by the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History. It has been made possible in part by a major grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities. Additional funding has been received from the New Hersey Historical Commission, a division of the Department of State, through a grant administered by the Union County Office of Cultural and Heritage Affairs, a grant from the Investors Savings Bank Charitable Foundation, and support from the Friends of the Scotch Plains Public Library.
