Programs for Education - Navigating and Surviving Social Situations

Navigating and Surviving Social Situations.

How does my child get along with his/her peers? Is my child sensitive to the feelings of others? Are they able to control their impulses? How aware is my child of his/her feelings? Can my child respect other's "space" make new friends, maintain a conversation, and take turns without interrupting?

These questions are just a few that parents may have about their child.  These social aspects of life are as important to a child's growth as academics, as they are all a part of fitting into the society in which they live.  Many times children who lack these skills are the targets of others, and feel left out or different.  Everyone faces the challenge of adjusting to the world, but some of us need help developing these skills.  Children who use and understand appropriate social skills are more likely to be socially adept and experience positive interpersonal relationships.  These "social skills" can be learned and taught at any age.
