Programs for Education - Why Is My Child Struggling?

Programs for Education                   Why Is My Child Struggling?

Many learning disabilities or differences are brain based.  Maturation and development, combined with understanding a child’s performance across academic, achievement, social, aptitude and neuropsychological abilities can help provide the most informed set of data.  This will aid in arriving at accurate identification of the difficulty and implementing appropriate interventions and strategies for the home and classroom for improved learning and social behavior.   However, competing factors may mimic a variety of conditions.  This can be due to a co-occurrence of one or more disabilities or differences including subtypes of various disorders.  Other circumstances can include symptoms that have shared and overlapping characteristics.

Some of the many problems children may be struggling with can be language delays that can range from significant to minor.  Some of their challenges can range from poor social skills, communication difficulties, paying attention, comprehension, planning and following directions.  Reading, math, physical activities and behavior can be directly affected.

Other children that may be at risk for struggles later on, that sometimes are overlooked at having a learning difference, are those that may have reached major milestones in development at too early an age.
